2004.09.03

OFFICE NEWS... this new website is just launched today! After moving to the new location almost a year ago and completing extensive renovations, the Shanghai office has now grown to over 40 people.
TOWERS... as the scaffolding comes down from the Mobius Tower project in Shanghai, BAU is working on equally ambitious high-rise design projects all over China. Some projects currently in the Shanghai office include a 40-storey office tower in Ningbo, a four tower entertainment / retail / office / exhibition complex for Hangzhou and a new multi-tower office complex in Hainan.
RESIDENTIAL AND INTERIORS... also currently in construction and quickly approaching completion are the designs for the Power station village in Ninghai; and the Jindi Sanlin sales pavilion and Sojourn Spa, both in Shanghai. The office is currently working on a large-scale residential project in Wuhan comprising high-rise apartments, mid-level towers and townhouses for around 500 families. After a long process of design and construction (with much of the latter by the client himself), the Auto apartments in St Kilda, Melbourne have been completed. Also recently completed are the King and Queen townhouses in Melbourne.
URBAN AND LANDSCAPE DESIGN... after winning the recent urban design competition for Chengdu East and coming second in Chengdu West, BAU has been commissioned to further develop elements of the Eastern masterplan, such as the innovative `Labyrinth` commercial district and two large scale urban parks (in association with Sinatra Murphy Landscape Design). BAU has also been asked to investigate the feasibility of the 400m tall landmark tower for the new district. In Shanghai we are currently developing our competition-winning scheme for Hongqiao Park, which will begin construction later this year. The office will also begin an urban landscape survey for the Hongqiao district in the coming months.
